Gospel Gossip at the Turf Club

Array

The “Dreamland” EP has arrived and Gospel Gossip did a great job bringing it to their fans. After playing an early show at The Contented Cow in Northfield, MN they made the hour drive up to the Turf Club in Midway to rock the cities before playing an in-store the next day at Treehouse Records in Uptown. Hardest working band in the cities? Maybe so, but their work ethic belies a serious talent that’s been discovered by a wider and wider audience over the last few years.

Their show at the Turf was memorable and their new material brings a refined shoegaze distortion-washed sound and excellent songwriting that I’ve come to love. Ollie Moltaji’s drums kept an epic pace, even through a floor tom malfunction and Justin Plank proved to be an unstoppable force rhythmic force after an early-show bass amp failure. Watching lead vocalist and guitarist Sarah Nienaber totally lose herself in the wailing distortion she created was magical.
